The TechSAge Design Competition chose Judy Kong from the California College of the Arts as the winner with her entry named “Stand.” Stand is a cane with a compressible mechanism designed to assist older adults in sitting and standing.

StabiliTeeth is a tremor-reducing, electric toothbrush that aims to support self-care and independence among people who experience tremors, such as those with Parkinson’s disease, ALS, & stroke.

MS Assistant

MS Assistant is a health and wellness self-management app that assists individuals aging with multiple sclerosis (MS). This evidence-based app helps users track their symptoms and share health data with providers. MS Assistant was developed as a dissertation project by Ljilja Ruzic Kascak, who recently graduated with a Ph.D. in Industrial Design from Georgia Tech. Ljilja was also awarded a mobile application seed grant from TechSAge.

PULSE

Designed for individuals with chronic back pain, PULSE is a tactile response system that monitors posture through a compression fit vest with embedded sensors and a mobile app. The student designer worked with residents at a local retirement community to develop the concept.
